What is corona treatment?
Corona treatment of films is a process that allows more effective printing on substrate surfaces.
Our corona treatment system fires a high-frequency electron discharge between electrodes to make the plastic or metalized surface more adhesive by increasing the surface energy (or dyne level). As the material is passed through the gap between the electrodes, a process of ionization occurs, which transfers extra ions to the substrate by creating a corona atmosphere. This increases the adhesive properties of the film.
Corona surface treatment is used as a pre-treatment to make plastic films and other substrates ready for printing, laminating or coating.
It’s an important process in the converting industry, especially on polymers that are to be used for packaging.
Our large manufacturing facility caters for one or two side treating of roll sizes up to 62” (1574mm) wide. We can carry out corona treatment inexpensively and at high speed.
Our Corona Treatment Services
Corona treatment is a process that strengthens the bonding properties of films. It allows for high quality printing that can be done economically and quickly.
You can choose from one or two side corona treating on rolls up to 62” wide.
We apply corona treatment to a wide variety of materials including:
- Polyester (PET) and Amorphous Polyester (APET, RPET, PETG)
- Polypropylene (OPP)
- Rigid Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
- Polyethylene (PE)
- Foamed Polypropylene (FPP)
- Polystyrene (OPS)
- Mearl (Iridescent)
- Paper and Board stock.
We can produce corona treated films ranging in thickness between .00036” to .040” (0.36 – 40mil).
You can choose from over 300 colors, and as we fulfil custom order, we can match any almost any color you want.
Our minimum order size is 250 lbs for film less than 3mm thick.
